Assessments

With a social work background and experience in child protection, Rebecca is equipped to undertake social assessments and has extensive experience as an assessor for general foster and kinship carer applications.

Rebecca is recognised by her peers and clients as having exceptional interviewing skills and the ability to create a safe environment where participants feel at ease discussing their personal information. She is practiced at identifying individual and family strengths and skilled at respectfully challenging applicants/carers, in a way that explores concerns and promotes reflection and learning; while maintaining a working relationship.

Rebecca has provided external assessment services to:

  • the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services
  • Pathways (Churches of Christ)
  • Timeless Footsteps and
  • the organisation formally known as Lifeline.

She has also worked as an internal assessor for UnitingCare Community for 12 months.  Rebecca has formally been a Child Safety Officer and a Departmental Liaison Officer with the Department of Communities, and has a well rounded understanding of the child protection system.

Rebecca specialises in:

  • making assessments of initial foster carers and kinship carer suitability
  • re-approvals for general and kinship carers
  • conducting Household Safety Studies; and
  • professional report writing.

She has experience with the Brisbane Panel and understands their requirements. She has recently received positive feedback from the Panel that her assessments are “very comprehensive” and “a pleasure to read”. Rebecca can be relied up to provide high quality assessments within agreed timeframes. She welcomes feedback and sees this as an opportunity for continual improvement.
